It's not every day you get to hear about a big fat Indian wedding featuring two of Bollywood's biggest celebrities. The last wedding we heard of like this was Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal's secret events. The Indian kept a close eye on them and now they've got Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor's rumoured wedding on their radar.
From the guest list to venue, details of the events have been doing the rounds on social media and several things have been "confirmed" by Indian media outlets. We should take all those confirmations with a spoonful of salt because the couple and their families are still keeping quiet about everything.
According to sources, the wedding festivities — a sangeet, mehndi and a bachelor party — will begin from April 13 to April 17.
It was previously predicted the couple would ditch the idea of a destination wedding and tie the knot at the Tamasha actor's Bandra home. Now Pinkvilla has confirmed that wedding festivities have officially begun as RK Studios has been bedecked with lights.
Security
The much awaited wedding event is being guarded by highly qualified security team, reported The Indian Express. Bhatt's half-brother Rahul Bhatt told Aaj Tak about the arrangements being made for her big day. "Yusuf Bhai has taken over the security of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s wedding. He has Mumbai’s best security force – 9/11 agency. He has been hired for the same. Around 200 bouncers have been called from this agency. 10 boys from my team will also be sent," he said.
He also said that the security teams will be deployed both at RK Studios and the Vastu neighbourhood of Chembur, Mumbai. Not only has the couple asked for security to be guarding the event but countermeasures for drones have also been taken and patrol officers will be present with each and every guest.
Outfits
These days, an A-list Bollywood bride means there is going to be a traditional outfit by ace designer Sabyasachi. Like everyone else, the actor seems to have ordered several Sabyasachi outfits that, according to Pinkvilla, are for her wedding festivities.
A cab arrived at her home early this morning with outfits covered in white covers embossed with the designer's logo. Previously it was reported that the couple decided to give their own twist to a Punjabi wedding. That could mean that we won't see Bhatt in the usual red lehenga.
Though we wonder if Sabyasachi is the only designer on her radar. Both Bhatt and her to be mother-in-law Neetu Singh have been seen wearing Faraz Manan and other designers and we wonder if they could be considering his designs for Bhatt's big day.
Vows over pheras?
According to Pinkvilla, the couple has decided to go the unconventional route by deciding to take vows before pheras (revolutions) at the main wedding ceremony that is reportedly on April 15.
Initial reports about the wedding had suggested they would go for typical Punjabi wedding — such as Kaif and Kaushal's wedding event — but the couple has apparently decided to give it their own spin. While they will stick with the customs, they are going to be dedicating vows to one another and, according to the publication, Bhatt and Kapoor have already penned vows for each other.
Guest list
The guest list for the wedding ceremony is quite star-studded — Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ayan Mukerji, Zoya Akhtar, Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan are all on the list. According to India Today, despite being an intimate event, the wedding is going to be a lavish affair.
The couple is reportedly going to host a grand reception for their friends in the industry at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai later.
The lovebirds have multiple projects lined up which puts a strain on their schedules making mid April the only time the two could coordinate to make time for their wedding with the blessings of the family pandit.
Kapoor and Bhatt have been dating since 2018. The latter had confessed that she had always liked him since the first day they worked together.
The couple will be sharing the screen in the upcoming movie Brahmastra releasing on September 9. Apart from this, Bhatt has Darlings, Jee Le Zaraa, and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani coming up with the addition of her Hollywood debut in Heart of Stone alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. Ranbir has Shamshera, Luv Ranjan’s untitled next and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal in the pipeline.
